Broadway's Yellow Face Streams Tomorrow on PBS

The acclaimed Broadway production of Yellow Face, starring Daniel Dae Kim, will stream nationwide tomorrow, Friday, May 16 at 9 p.m. ET, as part of PBS’s Great Performances series. Viewers can watch the full production for free on the PBS website or via the PBS app.

Filmed live at the Todd Haimes Theatre during its limited Broadway run, Yellow Face is a semi-autobiographical satire by Tony-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly). The play follows an Asian American playwright—played by Daniel Dae Kim—who publicly denounces yellowface casting in a major Broadway musical, only to find himself making the same mistake in his own work. What unfolds is a fast-paced, sharp-witted exploration of racial identity, representation, and the complexities of intent.

Directed by Leigh Silverman, the Roundabout Theatre Company production features a dynamic ensemble cast including Kevin Del Aguila, Ryan Eggold, Francis Jue, Marinda Anderson, Greg Keller, and Shannon Tyo.

The creative team includes Arnulfo Maldonado (set design), Anita Yavich (costumes), Lap Chi Chu (lighting), Caroline Eng and Kate Marvin (sound and music), and Yee Eun Nam (projections).

Yellow Face originally played a limited run on Broadway through November 2024, and this national broadcast marks the first time the production will be available to stream from home.

Don't miss your chance to experience this timely, thought-provoking—and often hilarious—play when it premieres tomorrow night on PBS.
