Broadway's Frozen the Musical Set for Disney+ Release

Disney’s Frozen the Musical is finally joining the ranks of filmed stage musicals available to stream. A high-quality proshot of the West End production will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, June 20, bringing the spectacle and heart of Arendelle straight to your screen.

Filmed at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the stage version of Frozen the Musical builds on the beloved 2013 animated film with dazzling effects, a larger-than-life set design, and an expanded score. Fans can expect iconic songs like “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever,” along with 12 new songs created specifically for the stage by the film’s songwriting team, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and EGOT-winner Robert Lopez.

The musical reimagines the story of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna as a sweeping theatrical epic. When Elsa’s icy powers accidentally trap Arendelle in a never-ending winter, Anna must journey across treacherous terrain to save her sister—and their kingdom. It’s the same story fans love, but with deeper emotional arcs, richer character development, and a few theatrical surprises along the way.

Leading the West End cast is Samantha Barks (best known for Les Misérables) as Elsa, delivering a powerhouse performance that earned standing ovations during the show’s run. She’s joined by Laura Dawkes as Anna, Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan as Olaf, and Oliver Ormson as Hans. The show also features Richard Frame as the Duke of Weselton and Mikayla Jade puppeteering the lovable reindeer, Sven.

Directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford, the production wowed UK audiences when it opened in 2021 and is scheduled to close on September 8, 2025.

The upcoming Disney+ release continues the platform’s growing library of professionally filmed stage musicals, following in the footsteps of Hamilton and Trevor: The Musical. The announcement was made during the D23 Fan Convention, where Samantha Barks gave a live performance of “Let It Go” as part of Disney’s entertainment showcase.
