Musicals Streaming Free: August 2022 Guide
This August, theater fans will be keeping busy with multiple stage musicals and film adaptations that will be streaming online for free. Our monthly recap collects all musicals that will be streaming this month - from Tony Award-winning musicals to fan-favorite film adaptations of Broadway hits. Please note some programming is only available to stream in the U.S. and Canada due to licensing agreements. This freaky musical lampoons the dead-serious 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film, that warns how one puff of pot can turn people into satanic addicts. Film Adaptation The global smash hit musical in one of the most successful film adaptations of recent years. The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father is told in musical style using hit songs by the popular 1970s band ABBA. Film Adaptation One of the most loved stage-to-film adaptations of all time. At a run-down flower shop on Skid Row, an exotic plant develops an insatiable appetite for human blood that the nerdy sales clerk dutifully feeds. Film Adaptation The 2009 remake of the original. A reinvention of the original Oscar-winning hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts West End Production The only filmed-on-stage version of the classic Broadway musical is a must-see. Gypsy: Live from the Savoy Theatre Stage musical loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee. Gypsy's mother Rose dreams of a life in show business for her daughters, but Louise becomes a huge burlesque star.
