Following major delays, Broadway musical ALADDIN expected to be released on Disney Plus

As Filmed on Stage previously reported, Disney's hit musical "Aladdin" was filmed for worldwide release just before closing in London in 2019.

In July, we revealed the complete cast for the filming, and later on, Disney has accidentally uploaded the movie page of "Aladdin: The Broadway Musicalto Apple TV.

The specially filmed performances, which were filmed in secrecy, included a cast comprising of members from the US Tour, London, New York, and Australian productions.

The performance was specifically recorded for a future release as a Disney Plus Original, and will join the two existing filmed stage musicals on the platform - Hamilton and Newsies.

While the filmed performance was expected to be released late last year, the film remained unreleased and got pushed back at least three times. That did not stop Apple TV from adding a broken link to view the film in October, citing a 2020 release date.

Sources are now claiming Disney wanted to focus all the attention on "Soul" and the final episodes of "The Mandalorian" before releasing a major title like Aladdin.

Earlier today, Disinsider published a report claiming "Aladdin: The Broadway Musical" will be available on Disney+ by April 2021. Other sources now claim the musical will have a February 2021 release.

An official announcement should be expected in the coming days regarding the new and official release date.
