Disney Accidentally Leaks Aladdin: The Broadway Musical Release

Disney Accidentally Leaks Aladdin: The Broadway Musical Release

As previously reported, Disney's hit musical "Aladdin" was filmed for worldwide release just before closing in London last year.

Last month we revealed the complete cast for the filming, and earlier this week Disney has accidentally uploaded the movie page of "Aladdin: The Broadway Musicalto its streaming platform.

Today, we hear Disney plans on releasing the musical sooner than expected after a July release date turned to a Christmas 2020 release when another Broadway musical, "Hamilton", was fast-tracked to the streaming platform from its original October 2021 theatrical release.

Not only was the release accidentally leaked on Disney's own streaming platform (and was removed), but Apple TV users are also reporting the musical is already showing up in the "Watch Now" carousel as "Recently Added":

The musical is expected to join the growing list of streaming Broadway musicals in the coming days, with an announcement coming "very soon", according to a recent interview with Trevor Dion Nicholas, who plays the Genie in the filmed production.

Trevor said: "We have an international cast and it is a unique version of the show that will only exist for that time period. Even if you’ve seen it on Broadway or the West End, this is the only way you’ll see that version! It’s very special and it was a wonderful way for me to say goodbye to that character (genie)”.
