Broadway-bound Life of Pi to Be Screened in Cinemas

Puppetry, magic, and storytelling are combined in a unique theatrical event that tells the story of a boy named Pi, who is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors of a sinking ship – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger.

Filmed live in London’s West End, Life of Pi features state-of-the-art visuals thanks to multiple life-sized puppets and stunning sets.

Life of Pi was captured as part of National Theatre Live and will arrive in cinemas March 30, 2023. Due to licensing restrictions, the show will not be screened in the US at this time.

The National Theatre has now released the complete listings for the upcoming stream with tickets on sale now. Browse the full list of cinemas here.

Future distribution on the National Theatre's streaming platform "NT at Home" is also planned.

Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt is another hit Broadway play available to stream online thanks to "NT at Home". Although the stream is not available in the US at the moment, it is expected to become available once the Broadway production closes. 

Life of Pi will premiere at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 9th following its North American Premiere at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University. 

The play was awarded five Olivier Awards including Best New Play, with Hiran Abeysekera winning Best Actor for his performance as Pi, and - in a historic first for the Olivier Awards - the seven performers who play 'Richard Parker', the puppet tiger were collectively awarded Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
