All-Star Sondheim’s Old Friends Concert to Stream Free Next Month
It was announced earlier today that the star-studded production of "Sondheim's Old Friends" will air (and stream) on BBC next month! Earlier this year, Cameron Mackintosh invited many of Stephen Sondheim's old friends and collaborators to join him in celebrating his legacy at the newly rebuilt Sondheim Theatre in the West End. The cast appearing in the concert includes Michael Ball, Helena Bonham Carter, Rob Brydon, Petula Clark, Rosalie Craig, Janie Dee, Judi Dench, Daniel Evans, Maria Friedman, Haydn Gwynne, Bonnie Langford, Damian Lewis, Julia McKenzie, Julian Ovenden, Bernadette Peters, Siân Phillips, Jon Robyns, Clive Rowe, Jenna Russell, Imelda Staunton, Charlie Stemp, Hannah Waddingham, Gary Wilmot, and Michael D. Xavier. Here's how to stream the concert next month, and the complete setlist to expect: The production was staged by Matthew Bourne and Maria Friedman with choreography by Stephen Mear. Accompanying the cast is a 25-piece orchestra conducted by Alfonso Casado Trigo. The concert will air on BBC Two this holiday season with exact times to be determined by the channel in the coming two weeks.
