Filmed Jesus Christ Superstar Musical Streams Free Worldwide
The contemporary re-imagining of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's legendary rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar, has now been released for free streaming by Universal Studios as part of the 'The Show Must Go On!' initiative. Director Laurence Connor presents this world-renowned phenomenon that portrays the story of the last seven days of Christ leading up to his crucifixion as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. The musical is available for free streaming globally, with the exception of certain regions in the UK. The studio has not announced a take-down date for the online stream. Filmed as an arena rock opera, this performance of Jesus Christ Superstar features a star-studded line-up including award-winning musical comedian, Tim Minchin as the role of Judas Iscariot; pop icon and former Spice Girl Melanie C as Mary Magdalene; radio DJ Chris Moyles in his stage debut as King Herod; and Ben Forster, to take on the title role of Jesus. The 2011 stage production of The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel Love Never Dies are also available to stream for free through Universal Studios.
