Bonnie and Clyde Musical Pro-Shot With Jeremy Jordan Gearing Up for Release
The recent West End staged concert of Frank Wildhorn's Bonnie and Clyde, starring original Broadway cast member Jeremy Jordan, will soon be released according to producer David Treatman (The Last Five Years, Fame the Musical). The short-lived Frank Wildhorn musical received a second chance at life earlier this year when it managed to sell out the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in the West End (current home to Disney's Frozen). The concert's success eventually led to the fully-staged West End production which opened in April with most of the staged concert cast. While the musical did not extend beyond its limited season, a UK tour is in the planning. Here's all we know about the upcoming Bonnie and Clyde Pro-Shot: Originally premiering at the La Jolla Playhouse (where Broadway musicals Memphis, Come From Away, and Diana: The Musical originated), Bonnie and Clyde transferred to Broadway in November 2011 with Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan in the title roles. Despite positive reactions from audiences, the show was critically panned and announced closing at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre just a month after opening. At the time of closing Bonnie and Clyde played just 33 previews and 36 regular performances, an incredibly short run for a Broadway show. Thanks to funds from composer Frank Wildhorn, a cast album was recorded towards the end of the run and released in hopes of launching a subsequent touring production. Although a US tour never happened, the album did manage to reach theater fans around the world and create a fan following around the short-lived musical thanks to its catchy score and recognizable stars. The musical eventually made its West End debut in January 2022 for two special concerts at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, directed by Nick Winston. The staged concert was originally set to reunite original Broadway stars Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes, but Osnes was later replaced with Frances Mayli McCann (Heathers: The Musical). According to producer David Treatman, the live capture will soon enable millions around the world to watch the cult-favorite musical with original star Jeremy Jordan. The film is currently in the final stages of post-production and is being "geared up for release", possibly through online streaming. Producers of the film hope that the capture will reimagine the title for a new generation of audiences, with the pro-shot becoming the ultimate representation of the musical. The Drury Lane production was filmed live by STEAM Motion & Sound (Heathers: The Musical, Kinky Boots, Waitress on Broadway) and produced in association with David Treatman Creative, Fourth Wall Live, and DLAP Group. Bonnie and Clyde is not the only pro-shot waiting to be released from production house STEAM Motion & Sound: Waitress on Broadway, The Prince of Egypt, and Aladdin: The Broadway Musical are all awaiting release and in different stages of post-production. Earlier this week we discussed the upcoming release of Broadway's Aladdin. The complete cast includes Jeremy Jordan as 'Clyde', Frances Mayli McCann as 'Bonnie', George Maguire as 'Buck', Natalie McQueen as 'Blanche', Trevor Dion Nicholas as 'Preacher' and Liam Tamne as 'Ted' with Casey Al-Shaqsy as 'Stella', Simon Anthony as 'Cop/Bud/Archie/Deputy Johnson' Gillian Bevan as 'Cummie Barrow/Eleanor', Eloise Davies as 'Trish', Adrian Grove as 'Henry Barrow', Debbie Kurup as 'Governor Miriam Ferguson', Matthew Malthouse as 'Bob Alcorn', Jeremy Secomb as 'Judge/Sheriff Schmid', Russell Wilcox as 'Captain Frank Hamer' and Julie Yammanee as 'Emma Parker'.
