Waitress Teases Upcoming Pro-shot Release

As we hinted last month, Waitress: Filmed Live on Broadway might become a reality in 2022! Grammy winner Sara Bareilles (who stepped into the role of Jenna for the film) has acknowledged the pro-shot is coming and shared a sneak peek from the post-production process.

Here's what we now know about Waitress: Filmed Live on Broadway:

Filmed during the show's recent Broadway run at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, Waitress was captured live by Steam Motion and Sound (Aladdin: The Broadway Musical, Heathers the Musical, Kinky Boots) over a week of performances in September 2021.

After nearly a year of post-production, it seems the final edit is nearly complete with Sara Bareilles visiting what seems to be Steam Motion and Sound's Brooklyn offices on July 8.

Posting to her Instagram followers, Bareilles took a short video from the viewing session of her "She Used to Be Mine" performance, captioning "Life is weird and wonderful."

Noticeable in the video are the screens with Avid Media Composer editing the filming, and a screen outputting video for preview purposes. While the video uploaded does not contain any part of the song, audience applause can be heard. Watch the video below:

Waitress was captured several times during the musical's second week of performances in September 2021. The cast included Bareilles, Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Charity Angel Dawson as Becky, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, Eric Anderson as Cal, Dakin Matthews as Joe, and Joe Tippett as Earl.
