Broadway Musical Peter Pan Streams Free This Month

Broadway's magical musical hit Peter Pan starring Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby streams free globally this month. The production has had multiple engagements on Broadway, typically during holiday seasons in the late '90s, and was filmed on tour in 1998.

The tale of the boy who will never grow up features an unforgettable score by Moose Charlap, Carolyn Leigh, Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Gree, which remains a favorite of children and adults alike.

Rigby performed the role for more than 20 years, starting with the 1991 Broadway revival at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The musical then embarked on multiple U.S. tours and played in more than 60 cities.

The filmed production was produced by the Arts & Entertainment Network utilizing eight cameras at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in California, months before the show returned to its second engagement on Broadway.

Peter Pan is now available to stream through Broadway on Demand's "Broadway at Home". The stream is available worldwide for free through the online platform, and can also be watched on supported smart TVs.

In addition to Rigby, the musical features Paul Schoeffler as Mr. Darling/Captain Hook, Elisa Sagardia as Wendy Darling, Barbara McCulloh as Mrs. Darling / Mermaid, Michael Nostrand as Mr. Smee, Dana Solimando as Liza / Tiger Lily, Barry Cavanagh as John Darling, Drake English as Michael Darling, and Sam Zeller as Starkey. Gary Halvorson and Glenn Casale directed the production.

In her review for the Chicago Tribune, Chris Jones said: "But aside from that pre-show announcement, "Peter Pan," or to give the official title, "Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan," is an entirely old-school entertainment headlined by an entirely old-school star. And, frankly, in an age when most touring family shows are either cheaply done, based on digital technology, branded around some obnoxious TV show, or all three at once, there is something sweet about this modestly scaled but ample production of the creaky 1954 musical"
