“The Most Thrilling” Production of Hamlet Now Streams Free

The Stratford festival runs every year and is one of the most well-known art festivals in Canada, recognized worldwide for its productions of Shakespearean plays. 

The festival's "Stage to Screen" initiative films its seasonal productions and releases them to cinemas around the world. In the US, Fathom Events distributes the filmed plays to cinemas.

Here's how to stream the festival's "Hamlet" now:

A ghostly visitor with a shocking secret, a daughter devastated by loss, a deadly duel and the most famous question in all of drama: Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy will hold you spellbound. Hamlet has been called the greatest play and this Stratford Festival production “the most complete, most fulfilling, most satisfying in decades".

In his review for The Toronto Star, Richard Ouzounian said: "This is the most complete, most fulfilling, most satisfying production of Hamlet I can recall in decades of theatregoing and the praise belongs to everyone. Cimolino finds new levels of meaning in the most unexpected places, like underscoring Polonius’s boast that he played Julius Caesar once by having various guest members jokingly stab him, only a few scenes before he is actually killed."

The cast appearing in the filmed performance includes Jonathan Goad, Seana McKenna, Geraint Wyn Davies, Tim Campbell, Adrienne Gould, Tom Rooney, and Mike Shara. Directed by Antoni Cimolino and Shelagh O’Brien, produced by Melbar Entertainment.
