Broadway's Peter Pan With Cathy Rigby Streams Free Now

Just in time for Christmas, the Broadway musical sensation "Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan" will stream for free globally!

The tale of the boy who will never grow up features an unforgettable score by Moose Charlap, Carolyn Leigh, Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Gree, which remains a favorite of children and adults alike.

Rigby, an Olympic gymnast in 1968 and 1972, performed the role for more than 20 years, starting with the 1991 Broadway production at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The musical toured the U.S. in 1997-1998 and played in more than 60 cities before landing back on Broadway for the holiday season of 1998, where it was nominated for a Tony Award.

Here's how to stream Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan this holiday season, for free:

The two-hour presentation was originally recorded for A&E utilizing an eight-camera setup at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in California during the show's pre-Broadway tour.

The musical will be available to stream all month thanks to Broadway on Demand's new "Broadway at Home" platform. The stream will be available worldwide for free, and a direct link to watch the musical has been added to our updating list of free streaming musicals and plays

In an interview on the filming of the show, Rigby noted: "Never has a role been as magical for me. When I fly over the audience at the end of the show, and I look out into the house, everyone becomes childlike and flies with Peter. It's exciting to see people transported that way. I see tears in people's eyes. . . Peter is truly an inspiration for children of all ages, from 8 to 80." Rigby and her husband, Tom McCoy, were executive co-producers of "Peter Pan" for decades.

In her review for Variety of the filmed touring production, Lynn Jacobson said: "The new touring production of “Peter Pan” is the old, familiar family favorite wrapped in colorful new trimmings. “Pan” veteran Cathy Rigby in the title role is tried and true, but the pretty packaging — new sets, costumes and choreography — also will delight audiences throughout the holidays and beyond. Rigby is as spunky as ever as Peter — full of energy and boyish derring-do. And Paul Schoeffler, as the evil but hapless Captain Cook, serves as a worthy foil. Elisa Sagardia, Michael Lavolpe and Paul Tiesler are well cast as Wendy, John and Michael Darling, respectively — suitably innocent without becoming saccharine."

In addition to Rigby, the filmed production stars Paul Schoeffler as Mr. Darling/Captain Hook, Elisa Sagardia as Wendy Darling, Barbara McCulloh as Mrs. Darling / Mermaid, Michael Nostrand as Mr. Smee, Dana Solimando as Liza / Tiger Lily, Barry Cavanagh as John Darling, Drake English as Michael Darling, and Sam Zeller as Starkey. Gary Halvorson and Glenn Casale directed the production.
