Off-Broadway's Harry Potter-Inspired Puffs Streams Free Now

Puffs, Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, the long-running off-Broadway comedy inspired by Harry Potter, will be available to stream for free through Broadway at Home starting tonight.

The play is a comedic retelling of the Harry Potter book series from the perspective of the "Puffs", students at a "certain school of magic" who just happened to be there. The Off-Broadway show played New York's New World Stages for two years from 2017-2019.

Here's how to stream Puffs: Filmed Live Off-Broadway now:

"Puffs" premiered at The Peoples Improv Theater, a comedy theater and training center in New York City and quickly made the move to Off-Broadway's New World Stages where it was nominated for the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for "Best Unique Theatrical Experience".

The play broke box office records multiple times and eventually launched a Kickstarter campaign to capture the show for posterity. The musical was filmed in February 2018 and then released to cinemas through Fathom Events, while still playing in New York.

Broadway at Home will now stream the show for free, worldwide. A direct link has been added to our free streaming musicals and plays list.

In his review for AMNY, Matt Windman said: "“Puffs” offers a good deal of harmless fun and manages to embrace a cute riff on a popular franchise. “Harry Potter” fans who are unable to obtain or afford tickets to “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” on Broadway (or who lack the time to sit through all five-plus hours of it) might want to consider “Puffs” as a juvenile but friendly alternative."

Puffs is a play by Matt Cox and is not endorsed or sanctioned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, the Harry Potter book publishers, Sonia Friedman Productions, or J.K. Rowling. The show opened in July 2017 and ended a two-year run in August 2019.
