BroadwayHD teams with MCC Theater to bring Space Dogs: The Musical to online streaming direct from its recent run at the MCC Theater Space.

Here's what to expect from Space Dogs: The Musical, coming this September:

 


 

MCC's Off-Broadway premiere of Space Dogs opened on February 13, 2022, telling the true story of Laika and the Chief Designer — a stray dog and the top-secret scientist who sent her to space during the Cold War.

Written and performed by Van Hughes (Burn All Night) and Nick Blaemire (Glory Days), it is described as "a sweeping, kaleidoscopic tale of invention, betrayal, international political intrigue, and the immortal friendship that exists between man and dog, as they journey together to the stars".

Joining Hughes and Blaemire to tell the funny adventures of Laika and the Chief Designer are an assortment of puppets, stuffed animals, and musical instruments.

Shortly before closing off-Broadway, the show added a final evening performance on March 20 to accommodate the BroadwayHD capture, inviting audience members to be "a part of the studio experience and in on the secret."

Space Dogs: The Musical will premiere on BroadwayHD September 15, 2022 and will be available globally as a BroadwayHD original.

The creative team includes stage director Ellie Heyman joining film director Joe Lukawski, scenic designer Wilson Chin, costume designer Haydee Zelideth Atuñano, lighting designer Mary Ellen Stebbins, sound designer Nathan Leigh, projection designers Stefania Bulbarella and Alex Basco Koch, puppet and props designer Amanda Villalobos, choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie, and production stage manager Katherine Wallace.
