The official social channels for DIANA - A NEW MUSICAL revealed today new details about the Netflix filming of the musical, which took place a month ago at the Longacre Theatre.

As we previously reported, the musical, which had to pause all performances on Broadway will premiere on Netflix next year ahead of the Broadway opening.

"We have been in a bubble for two weeks, with the cast rehearsing and working on much new material that we worked on over the summer", says Judy Kaye—who plays Queen Elizabeth II in the show.

"When we entered the bubble, we were tested twice, then we get tested once a week after that. Once everyone gets the third test, we're allowed to be on stage together without masks."

The musical is expected to premiere in January 2021 on the streaming platform along with a documentary that details the behind the scenes of filming the show for the platform.

The filmed performance is directed by Christopher Ashley and was filmed four times without an audience on the stage of the Longacre Theatre. The recording features the original Broadway cast including Jeanna de Waal as "Diana," Roe Hartrampf as "Prince Charles," Erin Davie as "Camilla Parker Bowles," and two-time Tony Award® winner Judy Kaye as "Queen Elizabeth."

Diana is not the only Broadway musical Netflix has shown interest in filming, as we previously reported. More announcements are expected towards early 2021. Browse all Broadway musicals that are now available to stream.
