Les Miserables in Concert The 25th Anniversary (2010)
This concert, recorded to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the landmark musical Les Miserables, gathers the casts of the show's 2010 original production at the Queen's Theatre, the 1985 original production by the London company, and the 2010 production at the Barbican together for one performance. Together with talents like Michael Ball, Hadley Fraser, and John Owen-Jones, the performers present the play's musical numbers in a semi-theatrical style, fully costumed and with all the emotion of the musical's heyday.
The concert played just two performances in October 2010, which were both filmed and then edited into the final released product.
One of the performances was broadcast live to cinemas around Europe. A few months later, Universal Studios released the concert on DVD and Blu-Ray, with the show also features the same year on PBS' Great Performances.
In their review for High-Def Digest, M. Enois Duarte said: 'Although an actual stage performance would be much preferred, this concert performance is a great joy to watch thanks to such talents as Alfie Boe, Lea Salonga, Matt Lucas, Ramin Karimloo and Samantha Barks.'
