Set in Manhattan in 1905, the opera tells the story of seamstress Esther who developed a relationship writing to a mysterious suitor laboring on the Panama Canal. After she marries the man, she relaises the relationship is not when she expected.
Featuring a libretto by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, music by Ricky Ian Gordon, and direction by Tony Award-winner Bartlett Sher (The King and I, South Pacific).
