Daddy Long Legs (2015)
Set in turn-of-the-century New England, this musical tells the story of orphan Jerusha Abbott of the John Grier Home and her mysterious benefactor who agrees to send her to college, who she dubs 'Daddy Long Legs' after seeing his elongated shadow. Under the conditions of her benefactor, Jerusha sends him a letter once a month, describing her new-found experiences with life outside the orphanage.
While BroadwayHD's production of 'She Loves Me' is widely regarded as the first Broadway show to be live streamed online, it was in fact a little show off-Broadway that tried and tested the waters a year earlier. Daddy Long Legs was the first off-Broadway musical to be live streamed worldwide.
The musical streamed live online on December 10, 2015 for free and had four total showings before being taken off the show's website.
According to lead producer Ken Davenport, viewers from more than 130 countries tuned in for the show.
The filmed production was eventually sold to BroadwayHD and became part of their permanent catalog.
