Bandstand The Broadway Musical (2018)
1945; as America’s soldiers come home to ticker-tape parades and overjoyed families, Private First Class Donny Novitski, singer and songwriter, returns to rebuild his life with only the shirt on his back and a dream in his heart. When NBC announces a national competition to find the nation’s next great musical superstars, inspiration strikes! Donny joins forces with a motley group of fellow veterans, forming a band unlike any the nation has ever seen. Along the way, they discover the power of music to face the impossible, find their voice and finally feel like they have a place to call home.
The musical was filmed live during its original Broadway run by Sing Out, Louise! Productions (the same production company behind Allegiance: The Musical).
The film, which was originally only meant to be B-roll footage for the show, was eventually released in 700 movie theaters in June 2018 across the US.
The musical was later made available online through various online platforms, for a limited time. Playbill was the first online site to release the show for online viewing for a small donation in April 2020, and later streaming platform Broadway on Demand did the same in 2021 and 2022.
As the show was only available for a limited period in all the mentioned platforms, it is currently not available to stream online.
