Passion (1996)

Famously known as the shortest-running Best Musical winner, Passion tells the story of a young soldier (Giorgio, played by Jere Shea), who is in love with the married Clara (Marin Mazzie) and becomes her lover.

The two are separated when Giorgio is sent to a distant army location, where he meets the unhappy, unhealthy Fosca (Donna Murphy) who develops a passionate love for him.

The musical was filmed for PBS' American Playhouse shortly after closing on Broadway in 1995.

In his Variety review, Jeremy Gerard said: 'Passion is a great, great show.
