Broadway Musical Bandstand Streams Free This Week

Broadway Musical Bandstand Streams Free This Week

The Broadway musical Bandstand will be streaming this week for free - and for a strictly limited time. Andy Blankenbuehler (HamiltonFosse) directed and choreographed the Broadway production that was filmed in 2017.

This is the first time the musical will be streaming for free - the show will be available globally and there is no subscription needed to watch.

Here's how to stream "Bandstand: The Broadway Musical On Screen":

Bandstand opened on Broadway in April 2017, playing 190 performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Production company "Sing Out, Louise!", who produced the stage production and film capture of Allegiance the Musical filmed the musical before closing on Broadway.

The capture was then released to cinemas nationwide in June 2018 as a Fathom Events showing, titled "Bandstand: The Broadway Musical On Screen".

Bandstand will be streaming for free on Thursday, August 11, 2022, for a period of 24 hours only. This will mark the first time Broadway on Demand's new live platform streams a Broadway musical. We've updated our list of free streaming musicals and plays with a link to the stream.

Bandstand stars Corey Cott (Newsies) as World War II vet and singer Donny Novitzki, who is trying to return to life after losing his best friend in combat. When Donny hears of a radio contest to support the troops and meets star vocalist Julia (Laura Osnes), he puts together the Donny Nova Band to win the competition.

The musical was the first Broadway production to be certified authentic by "Got Your 6", for an authentic portrayal of the military in entertainment.

Written by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor, Bandstand also stars Joey Pero, Joe Carroll, Brandon J. Ellis, James Nathan Hopkins, and Geoff Packard as the remaining musicians in the Donny Nova Band.

Tony winner Beth Leavel appears in the filmed production as Julia’s mother June.

Bandstand features sound design by Tony nominee Nevin Steinberg, scenic design by Tony nominee David Korins, costume design by Tony winner Paloma Young, lighting design by Tony winner Jeff Croiter, hair, wig, and makeup design by J. Jaren Janas and Dave Bova, and musical supervision by Greg Anthony Rassen.
