Olivia Newton-John's path to global stardom began with her unforgettable role as Sandy opposite John Travolta in 1978's "Grease," a film adaptation of the Broadway musical. The film version is still considered to this day to be the most successful movie musical of all time.

Newton-John also had a highly successful singing career, with three chart-topping hits from "Grease": her duets "You're The One That I Want" and "Summer Nights" with John Travolta, and her solo ballad, "Hopelessly Devoted To You."

In 1981 she released "Physical", a dance song that tried to show off her sexier persona. "Physical" became her biggest hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for more than 10 weeks.

Her next musical appearance was with the infamous musical fantasy "Xanadu" alongside film legend Gene Kelly. While the film was a complete critical and box office flop, it became a cult hit years later and gave Newton-John some chart-topping hits such as her single "Magic".
