7 Days Left to Stream The Sound of Music Live for Free

There are only 7 days left to stream the acclaimed production of Rogers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music for free! The show is now available to stream through Great Performances.

Here's how to stream The Sound of Music: Live now:

Following the NBC special with Carrie Underwood in 2013, ITV took produced their own staging of The Sound of Music in 2015.

PBS' Great Performances released the show for free streaming earlier this month, for a limited time. The classic musical will be put under paywall (PBS Passport) on July 31st at 7:59 PM EDT. Make sure to catch the program before time runs out - but if you do miss out, a PBS passport is just a $5 donation a month to your local PBS station.

Filmed live on soundstages in London, the production was cinematically photographed and offers "a more naturalistic view" of the classic musical compared to the American version produced by NBC.

Among the many songs featured in the score are beloved classics such as the title song, “Climb Every Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “Edelweiss”.

The production stars great UK talent such as Kara Tointon as Maria, Julian Ovenden as Captain von Trapp, Katherine Kelley as Baroness Schraeder, Alexander Armstrong as Max, Maria Friedman as the Mother Abbess, Jon Tarcy as Rolf Gruber, Norma Atallah as Sister Berthe, Julie Atherton as Sister Margareta, and Imelda de los Reyes as Sister Sophia.
