Photo Gallery: The Play That Goes Wrong Filmed With Original Cast
As previously announced on Filmed on Stage, the hit West End and Broadway comedy The Play That Goes Wrong was filmed live on June 25 with the original Mischief Theatre cast. The show was filmed at Chicago's Broadway Playhouse theatre where the US national tour recently played an extended engagement from December 14, 2021, to May 29, 2022. While no production company or release information was revealed yet, we expect more details to become available later this year. Here's a sneak peek at how the filming went at the Broadway Playhouse Theatre: Having just reunited for the same roles last month in the UK, the complete original Mischief Theatre cast of The Play That Goes Wrong appeared in the UK tour of the show in the Manchester stop (May 30 - June 4) and the Newcastle stop (June 6 - 11). The cast then all flew to Chicago to film the show at the 549-seat Broadway Playhouse theatre. Complete runs of the show were first filmed without an audience, concluding with the June 25 invite-only live taping. A total of six cameras were utilized to film the show over the 3-day shooting period. Returning to their roles for the filming, for the first time in 7 years, are Rob Falconer (Trevor), Dave Hearn (Max), Henry Lewis (Robert), Charlie Russell (Sandra), Jonathan Sayer (Dennis), Henry Shields (Chris), Greg Tannahill (Jonathan) and Nancy Zamit (Annie). The Play That Goes Wrong is now added to a growing list of 12 upcoming releases of filmed Broadway musicals and plays that are expected to be released in 2022-2023. The group was founded in 2008 by a group of acting graduates of LAMDA and began as an improvised comedy group. Mischief performs across the UK and internationally with original scripted and improvised work and also has a program of workshops.
